Services
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best. For senior pets, we recommend thorough physical exams every six months.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. If your pet needs special services that we cannot provide, we will be happy to provide a referral. Please refer to the referral tab on the "other" link on the main menu.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We use traditional scalpel techniques, and also offer laser surgery. Laser surgery provides less pain, bleeding, infections and often quicker recovery. Certain procedures such as soft palate remodeling and entropion surgery have been greatly enhanced by using this tool.
Laser Therapy: We offer cold laser therapy. Laser therapy transfers energy to the tissues to help reduce pain and itching and speed up the healing process. There have been some remarkable successes using this tool, which in one case prevented a cat from losing his foot. Laser therapy is not very expensive and is often useful in certain conditions which are otherwise difficult to treat. Call us!
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using modern equipment (such as blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, CO2 levels, heart rate, respiratory rate and ECG) the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. All patients have warming blankets and a BAER heating system to keep them warm and safe during anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We have digital radiology, which provides much better quality radiographs then the old chemically processed films.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for hematology, blood sugars, urinalysis, certain blood tests (heartworm, lyme, erhlichia, anaplasma, feline leukemia and feline aids, and pancreatitis) and parasite testing (fecal centrifugation - the most accurate method, and Giardia testing). We primarily utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Stem Cell Therapy: Dr. Jolie has completed a course in stem cell therapy. Stem cell therapy is a promising field that can restore some patients to a younger condition. It has primarily been used for chronic arthritis, but is being investigated for many other problems. We have treated two older, large dogs with significant arthritis who are doing quite well. Dr. Jolie is also trained in Ancient Chinese medicine modality, called Food Therapy. We recommend the use of Balance It.com for homemade diets. Balance It.com
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. We will give you referrals to trainers and behaviorists.
Boarding: We provide pet boarding as a limited service to our clients, for medical needs only. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Friday. We mostly board cats, as we do not have an outdoor facility for dogs.
